Irish Hockey Challenge: Greenfields 1 Instonians 3 Final

The second game at Friends School Lisburn on Sunday was the Women’s Irish Hockey Challenge Final between Galway’s Greenfields and Belfast’s Instonians.

Greenfields settled quickly and were awarded a penalty stroke eight minutes in. Instonians keeper Lana Watt made the save to keep the score at 0 – 0.

Instonians joy didn’t last long as Greenfields’ Ava Harty whipped in a shot from out wide to give the Galway side a 1 – 0 lead which they took into the second quarter.

Instonians found their form in the second quarter and they pulled the score back to 1 – 1 after a field goal from Kathryn Bell and the teams went into the second half with the game tied.
