Women’s All Ireland: Portadown 1 (3) Pembroke Wanderers 1 (2)

We caught up with the Women’s All Ireland Hockey League match between Portadown and Pembroke Wanderers at Edenvilla on Sunday afternoon.

It was a slightly slower start than normal to this one from Portadown but despite Pembroke having the best of the early exchanges it was the home team that scored first as Lucy Megaw got the touch that counted to place the ball past Pembrokes defence for a 1 – 0 lead after 11 minutes.

Lucy Megaw picked up the opening goal.

Pembroke pulled the goal back right on the stroke of halftime as Orla Macken converted a penalty corner strike to take the score to 1 – 1 at the end of Q1.
