Ulster Shield: Larne 0 Queen’s University 5 Semi Final

We caught up with the Denman Ulster Shield Semi Final between Larne and Queen’s University at Lower Cairncastle Road on Wednesday evening.

It was a bit of a shock and awe approach from Queens as the bombarded the Larne goal from the start. Larne defended well with keeper Trish Neill making some excellent saves but Queens eventually made their breakthrough, at their sixth short corner attempt, as captain Jenna McCarlie drove the ball in from the left to give Queens a 0 – 1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Ex Larne Grammar pupil Jenna McCarlie enjoyed the return to her old stomping ground with two goals for Queens

Jodie Simmons picked up a second goal for Queen’s in Q2 as the visitors continued to dominate with Larne restricted to a few breakouts and the teams went into the half time break with Queen’s leading 0 – 2.
