We caught up with the Ulster Schoolgirls Senior Cup Semi Final between Rainey Endowed and Portadown College on Tuesday afternoon at Havelock Park.
Rainey, looking resplendent in their new kit had a lively first quarter pushing forward down both wings. However the Portadown defence, with Rebekah Lennon and Hannah Davidson prominent, worked hard to keep them out of the danger area and we went into the second quarter still looking for a goal.
The defending champions made their breakthrough in the second quarter as Maisy Hannath knocked the ball under the advancing keeper at a penalty corner to see Portadown take a 0 – 1 lead into the second half.
