Women All Ireland: Portadown 2 Old Alexandra 1

We caught up with the women’s All Ireland Hockey League match between Portadown and Old Alex at Edenvilla on Sunday afternoon.

Old Alex were hoping to make it two from two over the weekend after picking up a win at home against Catholic Institute while Portadown were hoping to bounce back from a defeat away to Pembroke Wanderers.

Rachel Lennon picked up the opening goal for Portadown.

It was a cagey enough game for the first half hour but with perfect timing Portadown took a 1 – 0 lead into the second half after a last minutes goal from Rachel Lennon at a penalty corner.

Evie Girvan made it 2 – 0 with a field goal for Portadown in the first minute of the second half.
