Women’s Premier: Portadown 1 Queen’s University 2

We caught up with the Women’s Premier League match between Portadown and Queen’s University at Edenvilla Park on Wednesday night.

It was a match between the Premiership’s top two teams with the winners firm favourites to go on and win the league.

Queen’s started strongly with captain Jenna McCarlie making a few runs into the Portadown circle in the opening minutes.

Portadown finished the first quarter strongly and we went into the second quarter with nothing between the teams.

The second quarter was something similar but, despite the first half ending without a goal, Queen’s seemed to have the edge on chances created.

The visitors took the lead early in Q3 with Zoe Wilson slamming in a penalty corner for a 0 – 1 lead.
