In game one of a double header, at Playball, Stormont, Cookstown High School took on Kilkeel High School in the Intermediate Cup Final. I took in the 1st half and part of the 3rd quarter.
It was tight and very cagey in the 1st quarter with both teams showing nerves. Gradually Kilkeel began to take control but couldn’t breakdown the Cookstown defence. It was 0-0 at the end of the 1st quarter.
In the 2nd quarter Cookstown had the more promising play and Kilkeel survived several goalmouth scrambles. Despite chances for both teams it remained 0-0 at halftime.
It remained scoreless in the 2nd half.
Kilkeel lifted the Intermediate Cup courtesy of their 4-2 success in Run Ins.
