Senior Cup: Rainey Endowed 0 Royal School Armagh 2 Semi Final

We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Schoolgirls Senior Cup Semi Final between Rainey Endowed and the Royal School Armagh at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club on Wednesday 26th February.

Such is the dominance of Ulster Schoolgirls Hockey in Ireland these provincial semi finals are probably of a higher standard than the All Ireland Finals next month and it was a pleasure to cover four class sides in the two semi finals.

Rainey Endowed were unfortunate to be drawn against Royal School Armagh, the leading schoolgirls side of the last few season and undefeated in this competition for nearly three years.

Rainey’s Isla Graham, center, came close at the start of the game.

However, Rainey gave it a good go with a lively start that saw Isla Graham come close in the opening minutes and the Magherafelt side pushed forward for most of the first quarter.
