Women’s Premiership: Queen’s University 1 Portadown 1

The big hockey match in Belfast on Saturday was the Women’s Premiership top of the table clash between 1st place Queen’s University and 2nd place Portadown at the Dub with a lunch time pass back.

The game created quite a bit of interest with plenty of “Hockey Royalty” there to view and it certainly didn’t disappoint as Queen’s gave, a fair few, of Ulster’s U18 panel a good workout ahead of Sunday’s Interpro finals.

It was full throttle from the start in this game as both teams looked for an early advantage. Portadown don’t know, or countenance, any other way to play but Queen’s matched them for energy and added a bit of composure as their “Reigning Monarch” Zoe Wilson pulled the strings from midfield.
