I caught up with the Women’s EYHL match between Ulster University Elks and Ards at Jordanstown on Saturday afternoon.

It was another cracker of a match in this competition as both teams looked to take the initiative early on.

Zara Malseed opened the scoring with a first quarter goal for Ards

Elks looked to have the territorial advantage in the first quarter, but it was a moment of magic from Ards’ Zara Malseed that opened the scoring, after 14 minutes, as the rangy forward charged through the centre to whack the ball in, mid stride, from the left of the D for the visitors to take a 0 – 1 lead into the second quarter
