I caught up with the All Ireland Hockey match between Pegasus and, league leaders, Loretto late Saturday afternoon at The Dub.
Maybe it was because this was my fifth match of the day but this game didn’t really seem to me to fizz, which was a bit of a surprise as Pegasus were chasing a possible top two spot against league leaders Loretto.

Loreto worked the first penalty corner after a couple of minutes but Pegasus cleared and went downfield to pick up a penalty corner of their own. This one was duly dispatched by Erin Pim to give Pegasus a 1 – 0 lead after seven minutes.
The rest of the quarter, indeed the half was mostly played in the middle third of the pitch with Loreto edging possession and Pegasus looking fairly comfortable with a high defence.
