All Ireland Hockey: Ards 1 Pegasus 1

The Women’s All Ireland Hockey League match between Ards and Pegasus at Londonderry park was one of the few games to defy Saturday mornings deluge.

The home team started brightly and it wasn’t long until No 4, Zara Malseed got the final touch on a goalmouth scramble to give Ards a 1 – 0 lead.

Magnificent Malseed scored again for Ards, this time against her pervious club Pegasus.

Malseed was always putting the Pegasus defence to the test but there was no further scoring in the first quarter.

It took until midway through the second quarter for Pegasus to get back into the game with No 9, Sophie Moffat drilling the ball past Ards keeper, Naomi McKnight from close in to take the score to 1 – 1 at half time.
