The second match at Comber Road on Saturday was the Irish Hockey Women’s Trophy Final between Lisnagarvey and Glenanne which started in bright sunshine.
It was a pleasure to spot one of my hero’s in this match with, former Irish Rugby Women’s captain and World Rugby Player of the Year nominee, Paula Fitzpatrick, togging out for Glenanne and definitely looking like she could still do a job in the international arena.

However, Fitzpatrick’s thoughts were firmly on the match in hand and she played a role in the lead up to Glenanne’s first goal which came from a penalty corner strike from Audrey Westlake to give the visitors a 2 – 1 lead at the end of the first quarter.
