I caught up with the Junior 2 league playoff last night at Havelock Park as Banbridge 2nd XI hosted Ulster University Elks 2nd XI after the teams ended the regular season tied on points at the top of the league.
Nothing separated the teams throughout the season but Banbridge were quick out of the blocks with a third minute penalty corner strike from Rachel Hewitt giving the hosts a 1 – 0 lead.
The Elks looked to hit back and they enjoyed plenty of possession but the Banbridge defence held firm and the home side looked dangerous on the counter attack.
