This is the first time I’ve covered Pegasus this season and I’d hoped to bring them some luck for their All Ireland Hockey League fixture against Old Alex in our lunchtime slot on Saturday at The Dub.
Unfortunately it didn’t work out that way but based on this match they don’t need to do much to turn their season around.
It was a close first quarter with both sides creating chances but Pegasus looked to be getting on top towards the end of the quarter and a period of pressure in the Alex D was rewarded with a penalty stroke, ably converted by the maestro Shirley McCay to give Pegs a 1 – 0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Unfortunately the lead didn’t last long as Old Alex pulled the goal back at the start of the second quarter with a nice reflex shot from
