On my day trip to Banbridge I picked up the eagerly anticipated Junior 1 clash between Banbridge 2nd XI and Banbridge 3rd XI in the lunchtime slot at Havelock Park.
Unfortunately the game didn’t live up to the billing with the 2nd XI taking control from the opening quarter.
John McCague opened the scoring for the 2s after 7 minutes and a quick brace from Louis Groves gave the 2’s a 3 – 0 lead at the end of the quarter.
Groves added a fourth for his hat-trick in the second quarter to take the score to 4 – 0 as the teams changed ends . . .
