On Wednesday afternoon, in the first of the 1st XI Superleague Semi Finals, played at Lisnagarvey Hockey Club, Banbridge Academy faced Portadown College.
Portadown started strongly against a young Banbridge side, who came off second best in tackles and found it difficult to get any rhythm.
Following a penalty corner, Rebekah Lennon’s strike gave Portadown the lead after 6 minutes. With Portadown dominating midfield, Banbridge forwards, though very game, lived off scraps. Portadown led 1-0 at the 1st quarter whistle.
Banbridge had more possession in the 2nd quarter, but couldn’t create chances, whereas Portadown couldn’t take theirs. Portadown led 1-0 at halftime.
