On Sunday afternoon Belfast Harlequins and Pegasus met, at Stormont, in the twice postponed Denman Shield Final. Saturday’s snow and ice had given way to a positively balmy mild afternoon.
The match had barely settled, when Ruth McCandless opened the scoring for Pegasus after 2 minutes. Not to be outdone Quins equalised a couple of minutes later, through Claire Whiteside.
Pegasus had most of the play and retook the lead from Sarah Compton’s strike on 8 minutes. The 1st quarter ended 2-1 to Pegasus . . .
