The fixtures allowed us to pick up a couple of early evening All Ireland Women’s Junior Cup hockey matches and I got a cracking game as Belfast Harlequins II’s welcomed Mossley II’s to Deramore Park.
When I arrived the game was still in the first quarter and there was no score. For the rest of that quarter it seemed as though the teams were just sounding each other out as there wasn’t a lot of action and the teams went into the second quarter with the score still at 0 – 0.
Mossley looked to take the initiative at the start of the second quarter and the pace picked up a little as the visitors launched a few attacks down the left. However defences were still on top . . .
