It was drizzling when I parked the car at Dromore Rugby Club on Saturday morning and it was still drizzling, when I drove away. Overhead & underfoot, it was not ideal conditions for the 3rd Round Schools Cup Tie between Dromore High School and near neighbours, Banbridge Academy.
Banbridge Academy kicked off and that was the last time they saw the Dromore half for over 20 minutes. Dromore pressurised Banbridge but couldn’t find a way through a very stubborn defence. Eventually following a short penalty Nathan Hook claimed an unconverted try after 22 minutes to give Dromore a 5-0 lead.

Pressure continued and on 32 minutes Max Brush went over under the posts, Hook added the conversion and Dromore lead 12-0.
On the halftime whistle Jonathan Scott scored wide out on the left to give Dromore a 17-0 lead at the break.
The Banbridge coaches obviously pressed the right buttons at halftime for it was a very different team in the second half.

Play was very even, until in the last move of the game, Curtis Forbes crashed over in the right corner. Ethan Mount nailed the conversion from the touchline for a 24-0 victory and a 4th round home tie against Regent House.
