On Saturday Methodist College travelled to Belfast Royal Academy’s Roughfort ground for a schools’ friendly.

Methodist College had the lion’s share of possession in the first quarter, but were unable to convert this into points. All that changed on 25 minutes when a break from deep allowed Alex Armstrong a 40 metre run up the left wing to score in the corner. Callum Davidson landed the conversion from the touchline.

More was to follow 5 minutes later, when with Methody camped on the BRA line, Adam McNamee drove over for an unconverted try to leave Methody 12 – 0 up at the break.

Methody continued to pile the pressure on after half time and it was no surprise when Peter O’Hagan scored, with Davidson converting.

BRA only managed occasional forays into the Methody half and from an interception, on half way, Rob Sturgess ran in for an unconverted try.

Methody continued to press and were rewarded with Andrew McMurray and Callum Doherty tries, both converted by Davidson.

BRA never gave up but Methody were well worth their 31 – 5 victory.
