We picked up this game on our way to Dublin for our AIL matches.
It was an early start to get to Dromore for 10:00 am and it must have been too early for the Larne side who started slowly and looked out of sorts for most of the first half as Dromore ran in three tries with Peter O’Connor, Ben Carey and Tom Dolaghan all crossing for the home side. Rhys Dale converted two to give Dromore a 19 – 0 lead at the break.
Larne came out with more intent in the second half and the teams largely battled it out in the middle of the park for 30 minutes before two late scores for the home side added some icing to the score line.
Ryan McDowell broke the second half deadlock with a powerful run through the centre to score under the posts with five minutes left and out half Xander Lowham broke through the defence out wide on the left to loop round under the posts for a well rehearsed dive in the last play of the game. Dale converted both to give a final score of Dromore 33 Larne 0.
