Coleraine Grammar pulled away in the second half to record a 29 – 13 win against Friends School, Lisburn in the third round of the Schools Cup yesterday afternoon.
A mediocre first half saw very little between the two teams. Friends went in ahead by virtue of a converted try and and a penalty to Coleraine’s try and penalty.
The second half really sparked into life with some great running from both sides, hard hitting tackles, clever positional kicking and powerful forwards battling for everything.
However it was Coleraine who came out on top with tries from David Brown, Luke Norris and Connor Potts to add to the first half score from Hugo Mawhinney. Peter Crowe added three conversions and a penalty.
Friends School will be disappointed that their only response in a busy second half was an early penalty.
Final score: Coleraine Grammar 29 Friends School 13
Coleraine now entertain Methodist College Belfast in the Fourth Round of the Schools cup. Match to be played on or before 3rd February 2018.
