Ulster Rugby Championship

The Championship D1 is the premier junior rugby competition in Ulster, It consists of ten teams who, ultimately, vie for promotion to the All Ireland League.

Instonians RFC

Instonians RFC won Division 1 in 2018 and 2019 only to lose out, against the other provincial champions, in the AIL round robin promotion playoffs.

Reigning Champions

In 2020 Ballyclare RFC and Dromore RFC were leading the charge for the Championship title before the season was brought to an abrupt halt.

With two games to go Ballyclare were 4 points ahead of Dromore and 18 points ahead of the chasing pack. However Dromore had a game in hand.

Having lost to Ballyclare in the Towns Cup semifinal Dromore were determined to claim the league, with Josh Pentland on fire.

Ballyclare also had a Towns Cup Final in the back of their minds after being steamrollered by Enniskikken RFC in the previous year's showpiece.

We can't answer that one  but we do know that we'll be back covering it all again when the season starts; and we've made big changes!
