We caught up with the McDowell Shield Final between Banbridge Academy 2XI and Strathearn 2XI at Stormont on Tuesday afternoon.
It was a hard fought encounter between the two schools which ebbed and flowed with both schools having their periods of dominance, though Strathearn’s keeper Katie Allen was probably busier than Banbridge’s Ellie Walker in nets.
However, the well drilled defences were on top and with neither side hitting the back of the net, before the final whistle, the game went to a shoot out to decide the McDowell Shield Champions for 2026.
