The Schools Cup made a welcome return to the Kingspan Stadium on St Patrick’s Day, after a 2 year Covid hiatus. Methodist College and Campbell College served up a fantastic final, which had everything, pulsating end to end play, midfield breaks, last ditch tackles and a lead, which changed 4 times.
On almost the first Campbell attack, a Methody penalty infringement allowed Peter Caves to kick Campbell into a 3-0 lead after 4 minutes.
Methody replied in their next attack, with Lorcan Hanratty latching on to a break, before powering over midway out. Ben McFarlane added the points and Methody lead 7-3 on 6 minutes.
Play moved up and down the pitch at an alarming rate, as both teams sought to dominate.
