Sullivan Upper and Rainey Endowed Medallion teams met in the final of the Medallion Plate at Roughfort on a dry but cloudy Saturday morning.
There was a stiff breeze blowing down the pitch towards the “Chimney Corner” end and it seemed to be strong enough to dictate the pattern of the game.
Sullivan had the wind at their back in the first half and they took full advantage with a successful penalty from full-back Brett Russell after 3 minutes. Rainey had a chance almost immediately after but it was sliced wide into the strong wind.
The Holywood side then took control with the rest of the half focused in Rainey territory with the exception of an occasional break out from the team from Magherafelt.
