Women’s Six Nations. Super Saturday Showdown

The Women’s Six Nations reaches it’s premature climax this weekend with the “engineered for TV” Super Saturday Showdown to decide the winners of the truncated tournament.

These are difficult times and the Six Nations must be congratulated for stringing some sort of competition together, especially seeing that the women elite athletes do not have the same freedom of movement as the men elite athletes due to the huge disparity in finances associated with their chosen sport.

The new tournament, with wall to wall coverage on media players across the world, has been promoted as a showpiece for the women’s game and hopefully the increased visibility has encouraged young girls across the nation to become involved.

Two sides have played creative rugby consistently, France and Italy. While there are huge disparities in their resources, both have attempted to play rugby over both their games and they did it pretty well. If they continue in that form today, France should win the championship and Italy should be best of the rest.
