Omagh Academicals entertained their “near neighbours” Dungannon in an Ulster Conference 2 match in the Community Series on Saturday afternoon.
There was no score in the first quarter which Dungannon just about edged. However it looked as though Omagh had scored first at the start of the second qorner only for the effort out wide to be adjudged a knock on.
It was left to Dungannons Alex Gormley to break the deadlock minutes later after a power play from the Dungannon pack and with lawton missing the conversion it remained 0 – 5 to Dungannon until the break.
Omagh got the first score of the second half to tie the game at 5 – all but Dungannon responded almost immediately with Lewis McCabe finding the try line. with neither score converted the scoreboard now read 5 – 10 in Dungannons favour.
Omagh pulled level once again with their second try, as the game went into it’s closing stages and a late penalty from Michael . . .
