Ballynahinch’s mini revival in the Energia AIL 1A ended abruptly with a high scoring defeat at Young Munster consigning the Ulster Club to the bottom of the table on points difference as the clubs go into a two week break.

Cork Constitution remain undefeated at the the top of the table, with a win over third place UCD.  Garryowen look to be the only team presenting a realistic challenge though even they are 9 points adrift in second place with match weekends running out.

Ballynahinch’s best hope of survival appears to be the form of UCC who have now gone 8 league games without a win.

Energia AIL 1A Scorers.

It was quite a high scoring weekend with 226 points scored. The points came from 32 tries, 21 conversions (66% conversion rate) and 14 penalties.

Clontarf’s Sean Kearns and Terenure’s James Thornton  were  the Week 11 leading scorers with 11 points each. Kearns knocked over  4 conversions and a penalty for his haul with Thornton scoring a try and 3 conversions.

On 10 points we have Ronan Quinn (Dublin University), Evan O’Gorman (Young Munster) and Josh O’Connor (UCD) who all bagged a brace of tries.

Despite Kearn’s haul, the top of the leading scorers remain unchanged with Ballynahinch’s Sean O’Hagan hanging on to top spot with Kearns and Young Munster’s Evan Cusack in hot pursuit.

In fact, despite their disappointing results this season Ballynahinch top both our leading scorers table with Aaron Cairns just inching ahead this week with his seventh try.

With a couple of weeks to go till the next round we’ll hold back our upcoming fixtures and form predictions until nearer the date.
