RWC Warm Up: Ireland 29 Italy 10

Despite going behind twice in the opening half hour Ireland’s “hopefuls” found their composure to pull away for a 29 – 10 against Italy in Ireland’s first warm up match in their preparations for the 2019 World Cup.

Unfortunately, for a few of the starters, a scrappy first half may have ended their hopes of a ticket to Japan.

Ireland (19) 29

TRY: Joey Carbery, Dave Kearney, Andrew Conway, Jordi Murphy, Kieran Marmion

CON: Joey Carbery (2)

Italy (10) 10

TRY: Maxime Mbanda, Carlo Canna

Although there are two more warm up games to come this game could have been the last chance saloon for a few players with Schmid expected to look at starting line ups in the next two games.

An unconvincing first half from Ireland saw Italy take an early lead as Maxime Mbanda found the line off the back of a maul for an unconverted try.
