So far has Ulster’s stock fallen in Irish Rugby over the last few years that Connacht now join Leinster and Munster in regarding this fixture as one where they can rest a few key players for the bigger European games and still stand a better than even chance of getting a result!
Was it only two season’s ago when Ulster were being regarded as the heir apparents to Leinster? In the intervening period, Leinster, Munster and Connacht have all gone away and reinvented themselves to such an extent that Ulster are further behind than they have ever been. Yes, I’m getting rid of all my negative thoughts in 2016 so I can start 2017 full of hope and expectation.
