PRO12: Connacht 20 Ulster 27

Ulster kept a home play off place firmly in their sights with a 20 – 27 win against Connacht, outscoring their hosts five tries to two and securing a bonus point win in the process.

Louis Ludik, Craig Gilroy and Tommy Bowe all crossed in the first half, Pienaar converting the last to give Ulster a 0 – 17 lead at the break. Bowe crossed for his second, and the bonus point try, in the second half and a forward effort, finished off by Rory Best, kept Ulster in the lead following a Connacht fightback.

I’d predicted a bonus point win for Ulster if dry, or a regulation win if wet and while the weather stayed mostly dry the strong wind gusting up the pitch from Galway Bay had a big effect on the game. Something not unexpected as both teams had a forceful discussions with the referee as to who was playing which way prior to kick off!
