EERC: Ulster 26 Leicester 7

Had a report ready last Sunday but a glitch during the upload sent it spiralling, never to be recovered, into the web-a-sphere! So here goes for Ulster v Leicester Take 2.

The result, a four try bonus point win by Ulster, was certainly greeted with a fair degree of chest thumping and posturing by Ulster supporters, though as the week went on the magnitude of the result and the ease of the victory began to piss me off as my thoughts turned more and more to the pathetic capitulations at Welford Road and Parc-y-Scarlets. Two winnable matches that would have seen Ulster progress into the Quarter Finals.

Darren Cave received the plaudits, crossing the line on the 19th, 38th and 42nd minute. Ruan Pienaar converted two before Craig Gilroy crossed for the bonus point on the 49th minute with Pienaar again converting to give Ulster a 26 – 0 lead.

Leicester hit back with a try of their own on the 53rd minute through Thompstone, converted by Burns, but despite Ulster retreating somewhat into their . . .
