Ulster: Franco Van Der Merwe confirmed.

So many rumours doing the rounds it’s like the script from the old 70’s/80’s sitcom Soap, “Confused – you won’t be after this weeks episode of Ravenhill Rumours!” lol

Ulster confirmed the signing of Franco Van der Merwe as a replacement for Johann Muller. It appears that Louis Ludick will be next which would make the Hogg signing a non starter. I have two strong camps pushing for each one but Ludick is probably the most likely and would make the most sense with availability throughout the season. Time will tell. 😮

Anyway, here’s the Ulster Rugby press release on Van Der Merwe.

The 31 year-old made his only appearance for the Springboks so far, against the All Blacks, in last year’s Rugby Championship.

That international cap followed a successful loan season with the Sharks where he played 16 Super Rugby matches.
