PRO12: Ulster 58 Connacht 12

Ulster romped to a 58 – 12 win against Connacht on Friday night scoring eight tries in the process.

The tries came from Paul Marshall (2), Andrew Trimble (3), Tommy Bowe, Luke Marshall and Craig Gilroy. Paddy Jackson added five conversions and a penalty, before departing on the 60th minute, and his replacement, James McKinney, knocked over a difficult conversion to complete the scoring.

It might not have had the passion and commitment of last Saturday’s run out against Saracens but the team helped the crowd bounce back, from the controversial heartbreak, producing a thrilling display against the woeful Westies.

I’d said in my preview that this would be a high scoring, but close game. High scoring it certainly was but close it certainly was not with Ulster bagging the bonus point by the 25th minute and the game was wrapped up by the break.

Connacht came into this game on the back of an impressive run of form, four wins and two narrow defeats in their last six games, but . . .
