PRO12: Cardiff 28 Ulster 23

Ulster slumped to their fifth defeat in the PRO12 at Cardiff Arms Park with the hosts recording their fifth win in the competition with a 28 -23 victory.

Quite simply the visitors didn’t have the stomach for the fight or their heads in the right place as they struggled with the referee’s interpretation at the break down, giving Cardiff an almost limitless supply of ball in the 15 minutes before the break where Ulster shipped 16 points.

Ulster started well and took an early lead on the 3rd minute when Darren Cave brushed aside Dan Fish to cross for the first score of the game and perhaps it was too easy as Ulster took their foot of the gas and allowed Cardiff to work their way back into the game.

Cardiff out half Gareth Davies knocked over two penalties to put the Blues in front 6 – 5 before Dan Tuohy got yellow carded on the 29th minute and the flood gates opened.

Davies pushed the score along to 12 – 5 . . .
