PRO12: Ulster 10 Ospreys 7

Ulster ground out a 10 – 7 win against the Ospreys at a wet and windy Ravenhill on Friday night, though for much of the game they were second best.

Darren Cave scored the winning try at the start of the second half and Ruan Pienaar added the conversion and a penalty in a match that had more thrills and spills than the scoreline represents.

Unfortunately most of the thrills came from the Ospreys and out-half Matthew Morgan in particular who added a touch of class to a game that struggled to overcome the atrocious conditions.

Morgan made light of the elements in the opening minutes, going close himself before his second jinking run resulted in flanker Sam Lewis strolling over. Sam Davis converted in difficult conditions and the visitors led 0  – 7.

Ulster responded and went close with Michael Allen dropping the ball over the line before they eventually converted pressure into points with Pienaar knocking over a penalty on the 24th minute taking the score to 3 – 7.

Ulster continued to huff and puff and Morgan continued to jink and bluff but the score remained unchanged at the break.
