PRO12: The Out-half’s Olding the Hooker’s Herring!

Maybe not as good a headline as the oft-cited Brian Johnston quote, “The bowler’s Holding, the batsman’s Willey”, but it could be a slow burner!

However, one thing is for sure, the inclusion of Olding as out half in tomorrow’s team announcement is likely to start a message-board debate on who’s the best out-half for Ulster with the relative strengths and weaknesses of Stuart Olding and Paddy Jackson discussed and dissected for the next 10 years!  😆

Not wishing to start the debate early, but I am looking forward to see young Olding start at out-half having watched him play there in the Schools Cup final a few years back in a BRA team, featuring a young Iain Henderson, against Ballymena.

At the time Olding caught the eye as an exciting runner, “BRA did manage a couple of break outs with some exciting running by out half Stuart Olding and a few barging breaks from their number 8 Iain Henderson and it was from one such break . . .
