PRO12: Ospreys 12 Ulster 18

Ulster fought back from a 12 – 0 deficit to defeat the Ospreys at Liberty Stadium 12 – 18 last night. Paddy Jackson was the hero of the hour with the young out-half slotting over six second half penalties in a nerveless display of place kicking.

Ulster made one change to the announced team with Darren Cave coming into the starting line up for an ill Jarred Payne with Larne legend David McIlwaine stepping into the match day squad. McIlwaine got an early introduction coming on for the injured Craig Gilroy who went off on the 13th minute.

The match facts are pretty straight forward with Dan Biggar slotting over four penalties in the first 42 minutes to give the Ospreys a 12 – 0 lead before Jackson slotted over six in a row to give Ulster the game 12 – 18.

However, as I sat down to watch this game on an unseasonably mild October evening in the beer garden of the Olderfleet Bar, Larne, I had my concerns about the intestinal fortitude of some of the Ulster pack. My . . .
