Women: 2013 Ulster Women’s Rugby Awards

The Ulster Branch hosted a gala extravaganza in Malone RFC last night to recognise the great and the good of the women’s game in the province.

While it’s was a hugely successful season for Ireland Women following their Grand Slam success, it was one of mixed success for Ulster who finished third in the inter-provincials and lost their only representatives in AIL1 with Cooke dropping down to AIL2 for the first time in their illustrious history.

On the up side Queens University Ladies narrowly failed to secure promotion to the top flight but swept all before them in the province by completing an unbeaten league season in AIL2N and secured the Rosie Stewart Cup and Carrick 10’s.

In the international arena, Ulster did increase their player representation with Grace Davitt, Ashleigh Baxter, Stacey Lea Kennedy, Amy Davis and Exiles Larissa Muldoon and Lauren Day all made the Six Nations squad and Baxter, Davis and Muldoon are continuing their international involvement in the Ireland 7’s team that will be competing in Moscow in the 7’s World Cup at the end of the month.
