PRO12: Ulster 29 Treviso 29

Ulster slipped to second place in the RaboDirect PRO12 after recording a 29 all draw against Treviso at Ravenhill on Friday night, bringing to an end an unsatisfactory run of results during the Six Nations period.

With Ulster recording only one win in four attempts the home side has relinquished an 11 point lead at the top of the table going into this series of matches and while injuries may be cited for the run of under power performances the disappointing aspect has to be that Ulster had the opportunity and the ability to win all four of the matches, Friday nights run out against Treviso being a case in point.

Treviso went into an early lead through the boot of Di Bernardo but Andrew Trimble settled home town nerves on the 20th minute with a well timed run splitting the defence. Jackson converted and Ulster led 7 – 3.

Ulster’s abysmal run of injuries continued with Cave limping off, to be replaced by Cochrane, but Ulster took it in their stride with Jackson slotting over a three pointer on the 28th minute and five minutes later, with Treviso’s Iannone yellow carded, the Ginger Prince sent Stuart Olding through for . . .
