Always glad to roll out this picture of Nikki Caughey dotting down against Munster.

Ulster Women’s Rugby have announced a 30 player squad for the upcoming Interprovincial Series.

The squad features seven players from each of Belfast Harlequins, Cooke and Queen’s University with City of Derry and Enniskillen weighing in with three apiece. Newry, Blackrock and Sligo are also represented in the squad which will be Captained this season by City of Derry’s Stacey Lea Kennedy with Cooke’s Grace Davitt as Vice Captain.

Kennedy, Davitt, Ashleigh Baxter, Nikki Caughey and Amy Davis all add Irish International experience to a young squad and with the likes of Gemma McCutcheon, Claire McLaughlin, Imogen Porter, Zoe Templeton, Aoife Walsh and Dani Boyd expected to be there or there about’s when the Ireland training squad is announced it could be an exciting series for this Ulster side.

Certainly there is potential for an absolutely exceptional back line with tremendous strength in depth in all positions but it will take a big effort from the forwards to ensure that they get sufficient ball.

Hi I’m finding it hard to keep up with players from different clubs. A lot of young players in this years Ulster Squad haven’t been given all the publicity they deserve, there’s a lot more talent that hasn’t been mentioned than the talent that has been publicized throughout this website

    • Hi Claire – sorry about that but we can only cover one game a week. As we sponsor Queen’s and a couple of the girls at Quins then that’s where we send our resources. We have covered all Ulster women’s teams in the AIL2 but if you would like more coverage for a particular team then send in reports and photos and I’ll certainly put them up. You can send your reports to john@thefrontrowunion.com
