Women: Teams for England v Ireland.

It feels a little disloyal arguing the toss over the women’s team selection, especially as you just know the huge amount of commitment that all the players have put into their professional performances for Ireland while remaining strictly amateurs. Certainly if their “support” at the IRFU had put in the same effort as the players have done so far it’s highly likely that we would be going into this weekend with Ireland and England level at the top of the table with both sides unbeaten.

As it was, the disastrous travel arrangements organised by the IRFU for the France game saw the Ireland beaten 8 – 7 in Pau after spending the night before the game crammed into an overnight sleeper, with insufficient beds,  having been left little time to meet their original connection in Paris.

Had things worked out in France this would be a true winners take all match but, due to the defeat in France, Ireland now find themselves playing for the . . .

Like or dislike them , unfortunately my comments where exactly right.

A battling Irish side go down 17 points. (23-6) Now where have we heard that before?

Having said that this is the best Irish Woman’s team ever and they should be congratulated on a magnificent 6 Nations display. Well done girls.

    🙂

Sadly Ed you will soon realise that the Woman’s game is exactly like the men’s, run from Dublin by Leinster and picked from Limerick by Munster.

You are way out in your game forecast …. this Ireland team will lose by 10 at least. 👿

There could hardly be anyone in Dublin running the International women’s game. They only play five games and then pack up for the rest of the season! It’s not as if they have more fixtures and difficult travel arrangements to organise!

With regards to selection the coach has gone for experience and reliability I would have gone with youth and unpredictability. It’s no biggy, England have done the same and without doubt all the girls get a fairer crack at possible selection than they do in the men’s game. Due to the number of Ulster sides in AIL1 you could just as easily claim that Ulster are overrepresented but they just don’t have that sort of nonsense in the Women’s game so don’t go stirring it!

I’ve seen more of Ms Caughey and Ms Kennedy play, they both have won the FRU Women’s Player of the Year so of course I’d prefer to see them involved but their time will come.
