The match of the weekend didn’t disappoint with Ballynahinch beating Ballymena 25 – 20 in a thrilling encounter at Ballymacarn Park.

Ballymena led 7 – 10 at the break through a Rodger McBurney try, converted by Luke Marshall, and a Marshal penalty with the home side responding with a James Thompson try, converted by Janes Lash.

In the second half the home side added tries through Gavin Armstrong and Robert Greer with Lash chipping in with a conversion and a penalty. Ballymena could only respond with a Caolan Fitzpatrick try and a further conversion and penalty from Marshall but the visitors will take some comfort from teh losing bonus as well as denying ‘Hinch a winning one.

Dungannon’s Michael Lawton scored 33 points in what can only be described as a romp in the sun against an under powered Buccaneers in their 47 – 3 win at Stevenson Park. Lawton contributed with three tries and six conversions in the one sided . . .
