PRO12: Ulster hit panic button!

Brian McLaughlin has named Paul Marshall and Pedrie Wannenburg in the starting line up for Ulster’s RaboDirect PRO12 clash with the Ospreys at Ravenhill on Friday (kick off 7.05pm).

Marshall is included at scrumhalf, with versatile South African Ruan Pienaar moving to outhalf and Ian Humphreys dropping to the bench. Pienaar has played in the no 10 jersey for the previous club Natal Sharks, as well as for the Springboks. The backline remains otherwise unchanged from the one that faced Cardiff last weekend.

Up front, Pedrie Wannenburg has returned from a foot injury and will pack down at No 8 in place of Robbie Diack. Chris Henry will again captain the side from the blindside flank, with Willie Faloon remaining on the other side of the scrum. Dan Tuohy and Lewis Stevenson continue the partnership at lock. There are two changes in the front row with Paddy McAllister coming in at loosehead prop for Callum Black and Andi Kyriacou replacing Nigel Brady at hooker.

Ulster: (15-9) Stefan Terblanche, Craig Gilroy, Nevin Spence, Paddy Wallace, Ian Whitten, Ruan Pienaar, Paul Marshall. (1-8) Paddy McAllister, Andi Kyriacou, John Afoa, Lewis Stevenson, Dan Tuohy . . .

Ed….about time you started deducting points for people who predict an Ulster defeat, where are their scruples!!!

He could start with himself then FT!! -1

Much as I think a change is needed the sad fact is Marshalls pass is not up to it over 80minutes. Humph will probably be back next week!! I’m not predicting mind, just observing 🙄

Parky the Ed is having a crisis, he has lost the faith 😈

As much as I would find it hard to defend iHumph’s game last week (trust me it was even worse when watched live) I am inclined to think the tried and trusted startegy of Ruan moving from 9 to 10 with 20 minutes to go and swapping iHumph for Marshall is the policy we should stick with.

That being said I beleive the O’s are losing about 15 or 16 internationals for this fixture and with Dan Biggar at 10 (they don’t even rate him in Wales) I think the odds RR posts above are still too harsh on Ulster.

Flat-top says – Ulster by 15 and a bonus point

    SUFTU

…of course if you see where I am in the prediction league you will know that what I think is probably not worth consideration.

‘Having an expected an Ulster win earlier in the week, I am now expecting a defeat. Ospreys by five in a low scoring game’

That’s a bit glass half empty of ye!! Where’s yer faith in the Ulster Way??

  4. Raging Raven

The handicap betting is Ulster -10 points.
Win bets, Ulster 1/6 or Ospreys 7/2
    🙄
