Women’s AIL: Week 8 Results.

It was a disappointing weekend for the Ulster girls in the AIL with only Enniskillen recording a win, and that against local rivals Cavan.

The 17 – 0 win for Skins sees them move from 6th to 5th in the League, leapfrogging Cavan in the process.

In the big match of the weekend Belfast Harlequins narrowly lost out 27 – 24 in a testy match at Westmanstown. Quins went into a 21 – 8 lead in the first half with tries from Ashleigh Baxter, Zoe Templeton and Nikki Caughey but things spilled over just before the Break with Baxter red carded when she retaliated after being pulled back by her hair for the second time.

Down to 14 players Quins were still in the game until Caughey received a yellow card and with visitors down to only 13 players the home side were able to establish a 27 – 24 lead. Back up to 14 players, Quins pushed for a winning score but time ran out much to the relief . . .
