The road to glory: Ireland and England teams

The teams have been announced for Ireland’s final warm up game against England this Saturday afternoon at the Aviva Stadium KO 2:30pm.

Both sides still have the look of a “practice match” about them though England look a touch further down the line towards their starting XV than Ireland do.

Geordan Murphy can expect a busy afternoon on his return to International duty with Tindal and Tuilagi looking to punch holes in Ireland’s makeshift midfield and it’ll be interesting to see how Trimble copes with Ashton. 

Back row looks fairly competitive for both teams, with England selecting two of my least favourite players in their line up, but the same two should be well used to big Stevie dumping them on their asses!

As far as the match goes I expect England to have too much gas in the back line and they should win this one with something to spare.

It may be no bad thing that Ireland go into the World Cup without a win in their warm ups – it’ll certainly keep the pressure of!

    The difference between now and the 6Ns is no BoD . A major blow because Bod lines the defence and while Earls is a pretty mean tackler he is not a creative centre lacking the precision of o Driscolls timing of a pass.

    Another major influence of the nature of the game to-morrow is the fact the last time the teams player it was the last game of the 6Ns with nothing to lose to-morrows game is the last before the World Cup with in some respects everything to lose.

    But that is true for both sides and it therefore depends on which team and players become inhibited the most.

    My feel would be that the Irish pack won’t be hitting the ruck and maul like their lives depended on it which may allow the English pack to dominate .

    Ronan peaking out from behind big Stevie’s vapour trails. He’s probably wondering is it safe to come out yet!! 🙄

    Sorry to disagree Ed, but think Ireland might sneak another win here. Don’t agree that they’re practice match teams, they’re both fairly close to their respective first choice teams IMHO or as close as they can get, given injuries.

    Trimble seemed to deal with Ashton the last times the teams met, don’t expect any change this time round.
