Ulster Academy spread the net.

Ulster continue to push their development net even wider, this time netting two exiles as players for consideration for the Ulster Academy.

After enticing UCC player David O’Mahony to train with the Academy it now appears that  Ireland U19 talent squad members  Sean O’Connell (Exiles),back row, and prop, Ryan Jablonski (London Irish/Exiles) have been persuaded to try their luck with Ulster.

As we should have said after our  previous Academy post in June, none of these Academy positions will be officially confirmed until after the U20 Interpros in September but it is encouraging that Ulster is being seen as the place to go to for Ireland’s up and coming youngsters.

The Ireland U19 talent Squad also includes –  Conor Spence (Queen’s University/Ulster), Charlie Simpson (Newport/Ulster) Peter Nelson (Royal School Dungannon/Ulster), Kyle McCall (Ballynahinch/Ulster . . .

    the point of the previous comment was that UoU provide a good facilities and are at the cutting edge of sports research which would be attractive to students a further plus is that it also the base for the Academy players yhus should a student be a rugby player of ability of course he will be considered for the academy and especially if he plays in a position where the available talent in ulster is thin.

    ie there have been several Ulster school boys have gone to England and join Academys in England when studying at University

    I suppose it may also have something to do with the fact the academy is closely attached to the University of Ulster
