isaacIt’s good to see Isaac back in contention in the Irish scene as he captains Ireland A for their run out against Canada in the Churchill Cup in Colorado on Wednesday. This looks to be a strong development side with Bryan Young, Chris Henry and Niall O’Connor joining Isaac in the starting line up.

With Kidney, Gaffney, Smal and Kiss all in attendance this competition certainly looks like a genuine chance to impress the Irish management team and after indifferent displays by “Ireland”, against Canada and the USA over the last few weeks, there are quite a few squad places up for grabs.

The back row looks impressive with Ulster’s prodigal son Neil Best appearing with the promising O’Brien from Leinster and our own Chris Henry. Certainly an aggressive and mobile back row!

The Ulster combination of Boss and O’Connor lead a young backline and I’ll certainly be interested to see how O’Connor copes at this level. I hope he manages to get plenty of ball to Connacht flyer Carr who impressed with his turn of pace in our recent match against the Westies.

The match is on tomorrow (Wednesday) on Sky Sports 2. Kick off 11:30pm.
